Sharadindu Bandopadhyay, creator of one the first bengali "detectives", Byomkesh Bakshi, was a multi-faceted talent. Apart from his sleuth-writing, short stories and some comedies, historical fiction remains one of his biggest areas of dominance.
This legendary writer captivated me not only as a child, but continues to do so even today.

A fictional foray into the world of the Maratha legend, Chhatrapati Shivaji, The Adventures of Sadashiv centres around the orphan titular hero Sadashiv, who is cast away from his village, and through his wit and merit, finds himself accidently in the army of the Maratha Chieftain.
A short story on two aryan warriors, Pradyumna and Maghaba, who are such good friends that they are willing to share the kingdom with each other. However, the plot thickens when Maghaba captures the fiery Kalingan princess Ela and wants to marry her.
